I’ve known Barbara for about 20 years, and had her as my long-term care insurance agent for about 8 years. She is an outstanding individual, both as an insurance agent and personal friend. She was very helpful in selecting the right policy and coverage for me and my wife. We’ve been very pleased with her service, and would recommend her without hesitation. I am most impressed with the responsiveness of your company and the efficient manner in which all elements were handled. I will now have over $5,000 worth of equipment, which will make my life much more manageable. Little did I expect to need my Long Term Care by the second year of having it. You may certainly share this letter with any prospective clients, as it is my pleasure to be able to say something positive about an insurance company.

A few years ago my husband, Ray, could not be covered by Long Term Health Insurance because of his age and poor health. We waited too long. He is now in a nursing home and the payments per month are so high that it’s hard to believe. Thanks to Barbara, my own application was approved and I feel more at ease knowing I will have Long Term Care coverage some day if needed. Keep up the good work.

When my wife became very ill with pulmonary fibrosis she needed home care. Enter our insurer. We had a wonderful caring and professional nursing aide attend her four hours a day. Our LTC insurance paid for her. She needed a wide variety of supplies. Our LTC insurance paid for them. Our LTC insurance covered everything. But it was not that they simply covered Patricia’s needs, it was the concerned, helpful, and prompt way they did it that impressed us so much. From Patricia’s initial evaluation from a nurse you sent to our house to evaluate her to the wonderful case worker who stayed in touch with us consistently, our LTC insurance company, including you, could not have been nicer or more efficient. Your program made my wife’s last days infinitely more comfortable, and for that I am eternally grateful.

My name is Jesse Blount. I am a forty year resident of northern California and recently celebrated my 75th birthday. My first familiarity of the concept of long term health care came from Barbara Hanson about ten years ago as part of a purely social conversation. Three years later, she convinced me to take out a policy with her to help “guard against future health surprises.” In 2007, my first surprise occurred when this healthy, tennis playing activist was surprisingly hospitalized for one month with a disabling attack of septic gout and arthritis from which I have never completely recovered. Following my hospital stay, I entered an assisted living facility where I live today. My long term care insurance paid about $45,000 of my rehabilitation costs. For two additional years, my assisted living expenses has been paid in full through my insurance policy, with a total payout to date of more than $80,000. Through Barbara’s direct involvement, I have been able to avoid what would almost certainly have been a personal financial catastrophe. I will always be grateful to her for her guidan

Correspondence to Chad Connor (son of Carol) from Barbara
I still remember Carol sitting at her kitchen table, smoking, saying she did not think she’d ever need Long-Term Care insurance, and I was dancing to get her Something, even facility only, because she had said, “I don’t want to be a burden to my children.” When I hear that and I hear the emotion behind it, I go to town to get past the totally human denial mechanism.”

“I never knew that story about my Mother sitting at the table with you. It pretty much brought tears to my eyes. It’s funny, but I often think back, and very fondly, of you, ‘Sunshine Villa,’ ‘Hospice,’ etc. My Mother’s pain, not-withstanding, it’s an experience that I would never trade in for the world. I really want to thank you for all your love, support, and compassion concerning my Mother’s ordeal. She’s at peace now, but YOU made a difference in your own way in helping with her transition to Heaven. I truly believe that. Anyway, you can absolutely use my comments and name (full, if you want).

It means a lot to me to hear and see words like that–it makes it all VERY worthwhile, as well as gives folks some idea of what LTC is all about and why they may wish to be my client when they need assistance transitioning, or better, healing. You have said it all very elegantly and beautifully. Thank you.
